A seven-year-old from Chester-le-Street has had a taste of the silver screen, with an appearance in CBBC’s Danny & Mick.
Imogen Smith, who was six at the time of filming, was a student of Starz Drama School in Seaham, which has attended weekly for the last two years.
She secured the role at a casting last year through the company NE14.TV, and after sending off her self-tape she was overjoyed to be told she had got the part.
The episode aired on CBBC on Wednesday morning (March 15) but Imogen couldn’t wait and watched it on BBC iPlayer beforehand.

Sarah Smith, Imogen’s mother, said: “Imogen was so excited when she got the part, and she couldn’t wait to do the filming.
She absolutely loved filming. She thought it was absolutely fantastic. She had her own chaperone and it was a really positive experience and she really wants to do more stuff like that.
“It was just one-day filming but she couldn’t stop smiling.
“The production team and everyone was just really friendly and welcoming, and Imogen had such a fun time.”

Starring alongside Danny Adam, Mick Potts, and Nina Wadia, Imogen plays the winner of the biggest pumpkin competition.
At the end of the episode, Danny and Mick’s efforts of cheating to win the biggest pumpkin competition prove fruitless and their pumpkin ends up exploding over everyone.
Imogen’s character, who although didn’t have a name, proved important to the plot as the real winner of the biggest pumpkin competition despite Danny and Mick’s cheating, said: “I’ve won. Ha! In your face losers. See you next year. I’m out of here.”
The full series is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
