A rare chance is being offered to help run the new King's finances - from Darlington.

The Treasury role based at the Darlington Economic Campus in the town centre is for a new Head of Royal Finances - responsible for the fine tuning of King Charles' £15bn Crown Estate business.

The role pays up to £57,500 a year and for that you will be working at the highest levels in a unique position, leading the branch responsible for both overseeing the Sovereign Grant and other royal finance issues, as well as acting as shareholder and sponsor to The Crown Estate (TCE).

The TCE manages lands and properties owned by the Crown (which includes the seabed!) and pays its revenue profits - £3 billion in the last ten years - to the Exchequer.

You would join at a time of change, as the department is in the early stages of an ambitious new strategy, designed to address the challenges facing all property businesses, as well as deliver offshore developments that meet the government’s net zero targets.

So the role will include regular liaison with senior officials at TCE and include work on legislation or alternative solutions to enable this modernisation programme, as well as wider sponsorship functions, such as managing the recruitment of new board members.

But it also holds responsibility for working with the Duchies of Cornwall and Lancaster as well as the financial arrangements of the Royal Household and the management of the Treasury role in the administration of the Sovereign Grant, which will fund the King's official duties.
