A man has been arrested by police investigating an alleged murder after an appeal was launched by officers to try and track down a man wanted in connection with the death.
Police were called to an address in North Shields on March 7 shortly before 11.40pm where they discovered Trevor Bishop with a head injury. After his death four days later, Northumbria Police said that they were treating the case as murder.

Yesterday officers launched an appeal for a 54-year old man they wanted to speak to in connection with the death in Clifton Gardens. The man was arrested on suspicion of murder several hours after the launch of their appeal.
Two others have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, bringing the total number arrested in relation to the death to six.
As well as the 54-year old man, a 35-year old man was also arrested on suspicion of murder and released on bail. A 45-year old woman and a 43-year old man were also released on bail, having been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Police have arrested a man who was wanted in connection with the death of North Shields’ resident Trevor Bishop.
"Yesterday, officers launched an appeal to trace a 54-year-old wanted in connection with Trevor’s death. He has subsequently been arrested overnight on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
"Meanwhile, two men, aged 32 and 48, have also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. They remain in police custody."
