A man has been pronounced dead after his body was found on a beach near a County Durham town this morning (March 14).
Police were called to the scene near Blackhall Rocks at 10:30am following reports from a member of the public.
After attending the scene, the man was confirmed deceased by emergency services.

Durham Police have said they do not believe the death to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
In a statement this afternoon, a Durham Police spokesperson said: "Police were called at around 10.30am this morning to reports that a body had been found on the beach near Blackhall Rocks.
"Officers attended and, sadly, a man was confirmed deceased at the scene.
"The death is not believed to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
