A family-run community shop in County Durham has announced that it will close its doors later this month after setting its final day of trading.
Mallabar's in Stanley, which sells health foods, put out an emotional statement on Monday (March 13) over its intentions to close at the end of March.
The family run business, which has built up a name as a popular independent brand in the town, will shut on March 31 after a 'difficult decision' from its owners.
In the statement, Mallabar's said: "Hello, unfortunately, I have made the hard decision over the last few months to close.
"I would like to THANK all of our old and new customers who have supported us over the last five years.
"Your support in shopping local has been much appreciated.
"Our last day of trading will be the 31st of March 2023.
"Thanks again, Paul, Kersha & Helen."
Following its announcement to close, well-wishers online have been thanking Mallabar's, with one social media user writing: "So sorry to hear this but I wish you good luck in your new adventure," while another added: "Stanley's loss - wishing you all the best."
The store has also announced that since its closure is in a few week's time, buy one get one free offers are in place across its products.
