A British racing driver has taken to social media to post a video of parking chaos outside Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm.

Alice Powell, who comes from Oxford, took the video which showed cars parked on the road outside the farm shop.

She claimed that it was "putting lives at b****y risk" and urged the council to grant permission for a new car park.

Planning permission for an extension to the car park was refused by West Oxfordshire District Council in May 2022.

Mr Clarkson responded to the tweet saying that he has his “fingers crossed” for his appeal hearing on Tuesday.

The farm shop reopened after a winter closure on February 10 just after the release of season two of his hit Amazon Prime show Clarkson's Farm.

This has seen hordes of fans coming to visit the farm with parking at the site quickly filling up with customers.

However, with more shoppers coming to the farm than parking available many are leaving their vehicles on the main road despite Thames Valley Police and Oxfordshire County Council issuing statements asking visitors not to park on A361.

Mr Clarkson has struggled to get the local council to grant permission for a larger car park with the council saying Diddly Squat Farm must be treated like any other.

West Oxfordshire District Council has emphasised that the proper procedures were followed in Clarkson’s planning applications which included plans for a car park.

The planning inspector will conduct the appeal hearing from March 14 at 10am at WODC's Woodgreen offices. 

Referring to this appeal a WODC spokesperson said: “The Council will respond to the appellant’s grounds of appeal by setting out the basis for serving the notice, detail of the breaches of planning control and the reasons why it considers the notice should be upheld and the appeal dismissed.

"The determination of the Inspector is binding on the parties.”
