The huge list of roads that will have cash plunged into them has been revealed.
Potholes have become a blight across Middlesbrough and have been frustrating drivers. However, many could soon be fixed after the council unveiled its list of highway improvements. As part of the 2023/24 budget proposals, £7.5m of additional investment was signed off – this was scaled back from £15m after the local authority decided it couldn’t afford it.
In the town, 15% of all carriageways are rated red or amber. The local authority has costed up repairs for more than 80 stretches of road and estimates it will come to £7.47m.
Earlier this year, Conservative Cllr Luke Mason took it upon himself to fix potholes in Coulby Newham. He has since been told to stop by the council but he believes his repairs have left the roads in a better state than they were before.
