Pictures taken by a police force show a car flipped onto its roof as snow hit the North East this morning as the Met Office has issued warnings for travel.
Durham Roads and Armed Police issued the picture this morning saying it was one of the “several incidents they have already dealt with this morning across the force as snow falls.”
There were no injuries in the incident and the council closed the road to deal with the incident.
A spokesperson for the force said: “One of several incidents we have already dealt with this morning across the force as the snow falls!

“No injuries in this incident, and Council are on the way to close the road the runs behind Causey Arch car park from Causey Road towards Tanfield.”
It comes as warnings have been issued by the Met Office for drivers as ‘blizzards’ could be likely thanks to snow and strong winds.
An amber warning for snow continues to be in place for much of the North East and will continue to be in place until Friday 12pm.

Meanwhile, the forecaster has just extended its yellow warning for snow and ice hitting much of the North East and Northern England until 6am on Sunday morning.
The forecaster has warned of travel delays, cancellations for air travel and bus and train services being delayed as well.
Untreated roads and pavements are also at risk of becoming icy, making travel by car or walking treacherous.
