A host of new flying routes from Newcastle and Teesside Airports have been announced by travel company Ryanair.

The global travel and leisure company has revealed it will begin offering new routes from the North East to places including Barcelona, Alicante, Corfu, and Palma for summer 2023.

It has also added a further 1000 hotels on sale across 22 destinations for UK guests following strong bookings.

As part of the expansion to flights, Ryanair announced a new route from Newcastle to Barcelona, which will operate twice weekly from April.

Ryanair’s Dara Brady said: “Ryanair is pleased to be bringing even more choice and value to our customers in the UK with the addition of this new Barcelona route to our Summer ’23 schedule, offering our Newcastle customers/visitors even more choice for their Summer holidays at the lowest fares in Europe.

"And for those looking to get away and soak up some sun with the family this summer, you can now spread out the cost of your holiday by paying half the fare now and the other half up to 40 days pre-departure when you book Ryanair’s Family Plus bundle, making family holidays more accessible for everyone.

"We look forward to welcoming customers onboard our flights to/from Barcelona this Summer as Ryanair continues to deliver more traffic, connectivity, and lower fares than any other airline for the UK.”

Meanwhile, Ryanair has also announced its new Teesside schedule for Summer 2023, with 14 weekly flights across 4 sun-filled destinations, including Alicante, Corfu, Faro and Palma.

Ryanair’s Summer 2023 schedule will deliver:

  • 4 routes – Alicante, Corfu, Faro & Palma
  • 14 weekly flights
  • 83K passengers to/from Teesside in FY24
  • Over 60 well-paid local jobs
