The Combat Karts game is the first of its kind in the UK and racers compete laps while trying to secure bonuses and deter their on-track competitors.
Special technology allows riders to win speed boosts and slow down other racers by driving over highlighted spots on the track, like a real life video game.
The venue on Scotswood Road in Newcastle has installed the special tech as part of a £1.2m refurb which also includes a total redesign of its track and a brand new fleet of electric karts.
