We all have that weekend feeling today (Saturday March 4) - and are excited to be off of work, and keen to see our family and friends. But is the weather going to cooperate? Or will we be stuck with classically British, grey March day?
We have pulled together a number of reports from the major forecasters, to give you an idea of what to expect in the North East today.
Generally, it looks as though today will be cloudy, with a few light showers late in the day (so it might be best to get your gardening done in the morning!).
The Met Office predicts that we will see cloudy conditions with very limited bright or sunny intervals.

Many places will remain dry, but scattered light showers will arrive this afternoon, these most likely across eastern areas, near the coast.
In terms of temperature, you will feel a chill in the air despite temperatures being close to average. Maximum temperature 7 °C.
Tonight will be predominantly cloudy, with perhaps some limited cloud breaks allowing temperatures to fall close to freezing. Also becoming largely dry, as most light showers gradually become confined to coastal areas. Minimum temperature 2 °C.
Going forward, forecasters predict very similar weather for Sunday. It will be mostly cloudy with isolated light showers, although some bright or sunny spells could develop. Feeling rather cold again with light winds. Maximum temperature 7 °C.
Monday to Wednesday will see colder but brighter conditions. A Met Office yellow weather warning is in place for ice and snow.

On Monday, a band of rain quickly clears south, with colder but bright conditions following.
On Tuesday, the region will see very cold conditions with frequent snow showers.
Wednesday will see potentially icy conditions initially, with coastal wintry showers.
