The Northern Echo's new home in the heart of Darlington has been officially opened by Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen.

Coniscliffe House on Coniscliffe Road has been transformed into a series of workspace and studios, with the Echo team taking a large office on the second floor for our commercial and editorial teams.

Last night Edward Speir of developers Landteam welcomed guests and tenants to a reception in the ground floor of the building. With more businesses still to move in, he thanked those companies who had helped bring together Landteam's vision for the site.

He particularly mentioned:

  • Mark Ladyman and team from Darlington Borough Council
  • Agents Knight Frank, Carver Commercial and Connect Property.
  • Architects Summerhouse (external frontage)
  • Architects C&W on the internal design.
  • APTO Project Managment.
  • Blackburn Marshall on external works.
  • 186 Property Solutions on internal fit out.
  • Portland Estate Management together with Sharp Cleaning Services on the management of the building.
  • Flowers from Artichoke.
  • Catering from Hennys Kitchen.

As The Echo team met some of its neighbours for the first time, Edward asked the mayor to ceremonially cut a red ribbon to let everyone know Coniscliffe House is open for business.
