A number of North East schools have been named among the best in the country in the Sunday Times' latest guide for 2023.
The Parent Power table has ranked schools on their average performance using A-Level, GCSE and International Baccalaureate results from summer 2022.
Among the names, Newcomen Primary School in Redcar tops the list, while Coxhoe Primary School comes fifth, and New Seaham Academy ranks seventh.
While some of the list is dominated by Newcastle and Gateshead schools, there is a strong showing for County Durham and Darlington schools - which places Staindrop Church of England Primary in third.
The list is purely for the North East, with The Times ranking other schools in different regions of the UK in their own category.
However, Newcomen Primary School does rank 16th best in the overall UK list.
The rankings are just for state schools, but there is a separate list for independent schools too.
