Police have been dealing with a serious incident in Spennymoor this evening - with one man seen being led away by officers.
Emergency services converged on Craddock Street in Spennymoor just after 4pm today (Monday, February 27) when the alarm was raised.
The Great North Air Ambulance was dispatched to the scene along with ambulance crews and police.
Officers taped off the terraced rows of houses and have been guarding the front and back of the property.
One resident said: "A car pulled up outside and then an ambulance came.
"Then there was two or three police cars and the air ambulance flew over.
"Then two more police cars came after that.
"A man was taken out of the house and put into the police car. He was being arrested. A van came to get him.
"Then out of the same van they bought some black plastic bags which I am guessing were for evidence."
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We received a call to a person unwell at a private address on Craddock Street in Spennymoor this afternoon at 4.07pm.
"We sent a rapid response paramedic, an emergency ambulance crew and requested support from the air ambulance."
Durham Constabulary has been contacted for comment but no further details are available at this stage.
