A popular restaurant and takeaway in the North East have scooped a top award.
My Delhi Indian Streetery in Newcastle won Street Food Restaurant of the Year at the 1st Nation’s Curry Awards 2023.
A ceremony which celebrates the best curry houses and chefs across the UK took place in Manchester last night.
The “prestigious” event recognised and celebrated the talents and hard work of individuals and businesses within the curry industry.

My Delhi Indian Streetery was one of a number of Northern venues to take home an award.
Bengal Lounge Wetherby scooped the award for Best in Yorkshire, while Sharmini’s Inspirational Indian Cuisine in York took the Curry School of the Year award.
Meanwhile, Lalon Shah from Delhi 6 in South Shields landed the Curry King or Queen during the ceremony.
A spokesperson for The 1st Nation’s Curry Awards 2023 said: “It was an unforgettable night, filled with incredible food, vibrant energy, and passionate conversations.
“We celebrated the finest in the UK’s curry scene, recognising the creativity, innovation, and exceptional service that have become synonymous with this beloved cuisine.
“The UK’s curry industry is a vital part of our culture, and these awards recognised the exceptional talents of the individuals and businesses that make it so special.
