Police have appealed for information after thieves crashed a stolen car near a North East village before fleeing the scene.
The car was involved in collision near Kirkleatham, Redcar, on Friday (February 16) and police are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage.
A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “A silver Vauxhall Astra was stolen from outside a property on Stirling Road, in Redcar, overnight between Thursday (February 16) and Friday (February 17).
“It is believed the suspects entered the property, stole the car keys, and made off in the vehicle.
“The vehicle was subsequently involved in a collision shortly after 9.00am on Friday on the A1042.”

The spokesman added, it was reported that three males abandoned the car, which had suffered substantial damage to the bodywork, and fled the scene.
