Two men brandishing large kitchen knives fled empty-handed after attempting to rob a shop in Middlesbrough.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident at the Welcome Stores on Cumberland Road at 7.45pm on Monday (February 13).
They were both armed with large kitchen knives and threatened the male member of staff, demanding cash and cigarettes.
They fled empty-handed, however, when the alarm was raised.
One was wearing navy blue tracksuit bottoms with Adidas printed along the upper leg area, a dark Bench logo jacket, black balaclava, and black trainers which had red along the edges.

The second suspect is described as wearing a yellow high-vis coat, black joggers, and white trainers with a black rim around their edges. This male had his face concealed by a red face covering.
