A grandfather who tragically died after being struck by a car last week has been named as his family paid tribute to him.
Pedestrian Raymond Ayre was fatally injured in a crash with a car on West Lane in Trimdon Station, County Durham last Wednesday (February 8).

Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly before 5.30pm after a collision involving a Volkswagen Golf and the 73-year-old dad and granddad was treated by specialist paramedics.
Despite their best efforts was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed for several hours while accident investigators examined the area.
In a statement released on Monday (February 13), his family said: “It is with sadness that we announce the death of our lovely dad and Grandad, Raymie Ayre, who sadly passed away following a tragic road accident last Wednesday.

“Rest in peace Dad, you will be sadly missed by all of your family, many of your friends and the local community.
“We would like to thank everyone for your support and now ask to be left in peace to grieve.”
Police are continuing to appeal for dashcam footage of the incident to come forward to assist their enquiries.
A Durham Police spokesperson added: “Anyone with information is asked to contact the Collision Investigation unit on 101 quoting incident number 317 of February 8.”
