Four people were arrested as armed police were spotted swarming a North East street following an assault.

Dramatic scenes from the incident showed a number of police vans and police cars parked up at Westfield Court in Redcar.

Armed police were spotted in the area soon after with Cleveland Police revealing that multiple arrests were made.

Police were spotted taking items out of a property on the street as investigations were underway.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: “Cleveland Police has carried out a number of arrests this morning across the Redcar and Cleveland area in relation to an ongoing investigation.

“Four males have been arrested in connection with an assault and they remain in police custody at this time. “
