Police have shared the devastating aftermath of a crash on the A1(M) that left a car smashed up on the roadside and a driver taken to hospital.
Officers from Durham Police's specialist road team attended a road traffic collision over the weekend on the A1(M) near junction 63 (Chester-le-Street).
According to the police, a car was travelling along the major A-road when the vehicle lost control and rolled the car.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital - but Durham Police has used it as an opportunity to warn other drivers.
A spokesperson for the police force said: "Currently dealing with a one-vehicle RTC on top of J63 A1M northbound.
"A vehicle has been travelling north and lost control and rolled the car.
"Only one vehicle was involved and the driver was taken to hospital for treatment.
"Traffic is coming off the A1M and back on at blind lane."
