An appeal has been launched to find a Good Samaritan who assisted a woman after she was allegedly raped in a North East city centre, as a suspect has been charged.
Police are appealing for help tracing a man who helped a woman following an incident in the area of Oxford Street and New Bridge Street, in Newcastle city centre on Friday (January 27).
Northumbria Police have said the woman informed them she was helped by the man after the alleged attack between 2.30am and 3am, before others came to her aid.
Another man, 23, has since been arrested on suspicion of rape, charged with one count of rape, sexual assault, and robbery.

He was due to appear before Newcastle Magistrates’ Court today (February 2).
In a statement today, a Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "A woman reported to police that she had been raped by a man sometime between 2.30am and 3am on Friday, January 27, in the area of Oxford Street and New Bridge Street, in Newcastle city centre.
"She is now being supported by specialist officers.
"Officers arrested a man, aged 23, on suspicion of rape.
"He has now been charged with one count of rape, one count of sexual assault and one count of robbery and is due to appear before Newcastle Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday).
