Two men have been arrested after an 18-year-old was stabbed in the early hours of Wednesday (February 1) morning.

The 18-year-old was taken to hospital with stab wounds around 3.10am on Wednesday following an incident near the Atik and Spensley's Emporium nightclubs on Zetland Road in Middlesbrough.

His injuries are understood not to be life-threatening.

Two men, a 19-year-old and 20-year-old, have since been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

They both remain in police custody while officers investigate the incident. Enquiries are ongoing.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “Two men have been arrested after a man received stab wounds in an incident on Zetland Road in Middlesbrough at around 3.05am on Wednesday 1st February.

“A 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old man were both arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. They both remain in police custody at this time.

“Anyone with information should contact us on 101, quoting reference number 019511.”

A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service added: “We were called at 03:11am this morning to an incident at Zetland Road, Middlesbrough. We sent one emergency ambulance and treated one patient at the scene who chose to make their own way to hospital.”
