Gorgeous pictures show the sumptuous apartments in Durham that have recently hit the market - have a look inside before the first guests are welcomed in.
The Funky Monk serviced apartments have just opened their doors at Victoria Terrace in Durham City, only five minutes walk from the train station.
You can have a lavish stay in Durham City - but only if you have a whopping £295 to spare. The new apartments offer visitors the opportunity to stay in complete luxury whilst visiting the historic city.

The development is the brainchild of Ramside Estates, which also owns Ramside Hall Hotel, Golf & Spa; Hardwick Hotel; and Bowburn Hall Hotel
The former flats have been transformed into five separate luxury holiday lets, which are all equipped with state-of-the-art kitchens, spacious living rooms and dining areas, and even roomy free-standing copper tubs.
The Funky Monk offers three one-bed, one two-bedroomed and a three-bedroomed penthouse apartment, which start from £295 a night. Despite the steep price, John Adamson, the owner of Ramside Estates, believes that visitors will get plenty of bang for their buck.
He said: “We’ve been working on the project for some time to ensure it would be exactly how we wanted it and we are thrilled with the result.
“The sense of fun and uniqueness which has made The Impeccable Pig such a success is what we’ve tried to replicate at The Funky Monk.
“We’ve kept in mind that Durham is a historic city and that’s reflected in the design and the decor, but at the same time, it is the epitome of luxury.”
The developers have intertwined the house's history into the new holiday apartments, imparting a little "ecclesiastical elegance" that pays tribute to the home's most famous resident.

The property has a unique piece of artwork depicting the mythical Brother John, who is the titular Funky Monk.
Brother John's story is told throughout the building, via a number of specially commissioned paintings, which see Brother John enjoying everything from fast food to images that “come alive” at night.
