A home on one of the region’s most sought-after streets has been the target of a reported burglary.
Police were called to a home on Runnymede Road in Darras Hall, Ponteland on Sunday (January 29) night following reports of a break-in.
The sought-after street famously attracts celebrities and top footballers including Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer. Homes there sell for an average price of £1.245m, according to recent figures.

It was reported that the offenders broken an upstairs window at a property on the street before gaining entry and stealing a quantity of cash.
A helicopter from the National Police Air Service was also called in twice by Northumbria Police to assist their enquiries.
Officers have now launched an investigation and enquiries are ongoing.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson added: “Witnesses who have any information regarding the burglary should report it to police via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of our website or call 101 quoting NP-20230129-0924.”
Research into average house prices by bank Halifax in December listed Runnymede Road as the North East’s fourth most expensive street.
Ramside Park in Durham was named as the region’s most expensive street, with the average property there selling for more than £1.55m.
