Tesco has announced the closure of one of its popular North East branches after issuing a statement about the supermarket store shutting its doors.
The Tesco Express store on Acklam Road, near the Coronation pub, opened in 2010 - but the big-brand giant has now announced that it has been earmarked for closure.
A Tesco spokesperson said: "We have taken the difficult decision to close our Acklam Road Express store.

"We have a number of stores nearby which will continue to serve Middlesbrough. Our priority during the closure was to support our colleagues and all those affected were offered alternative jobs within Tesco."
Despite the closure of the store, it will be replaced next month by a One-Stop convenience store.
One-Stop is a subsidiary of Tesco but run as a separate business.
The exact date of the store closure is not yet known, and questions still remain about how many jobs will be affected by the move.
A One Stop spokesperson however confirmed the retailer would be taking over the site.
They said: "We're hugely excited to be opening our 290 Acklam Road, Middlesbrough store in February.
"Our new store will provide customers with a wide range of great quality products and services right on their doorstep.
"We look forward to being part of the local community and are proud to make a difference in the areas we serve."
