A property in Stockton was broken into by masked men and saw them steal the owner's car before crashing it.
The incident happened at around 2.30am at an address on Toddington Drive, Norton and police are appealing for footage of the incident.
The owner of the property woke to find two males wearing face coverings in his address before they made off with his car.
A silver Mercedes Compressor was found a short time later, having crashed on Station Road in Norton, near the junction with Junction Road.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: “Officers would appeal to anyone who may have footage in the area of Toddington.
