Police have warned residents in one County Durham location about door-step sellers that have been aggressive and persistent over the last few weeks.
Officers from Durham Police have issued guidance to households in Newton Aycliffe - warning that people should stay on their guard following a rise in reports of persistent door-stop sellers.
Several homes in the town have been targeted by the callers in the last few days - including vulnerable and elderly people.

As a result, advice has been given to residents who have been targeted - with inspector Sarah Honeyman, from Newton Aycliffe Neighbourhood Policing Team releasing some top tips for homeowners.
These include:
- Do not accept work from a cold caller who asks for cash upfront
- Ensure they hold a Pedlar's certificate
- Stay vigilant when answering your door, use your door chain if possible
- If you have doubt about who is at your door, don’t answer it
In an emergency, always call 999.
