The UK’s biggest live action show is staging an open call for volunteers to join its cast and crew this week.
Kynren recruits new members all year round but the upcoming open call Thursday (January 26), at 11Arches Park in Bishop Auckland, is the last opportunity for potential Archers - the word Kynren uses for volunteers - to join in time to enjoy the full training programme for the 2023 season.
Volunteers will receive professional training from leading experts in their respective fields including stage combat, choreography, pyrotechnics, customer service and much more. Volunteers are needed for the show team, experience team, cavalry team, technical team and operations team.
Set against the magnificent backdrop of Auckland Castle, the live performance is a spectacular re-telling of 2,000 years of English history, featuring a 1,000-strong cast and crew on a 7.5-acre outdoor stage.
The multi-award-winning shows, which run on Saturdays throughout the summer holidays, feature daring stunts, state-of-the-art special effects, fireworks and evocative orchestral music.
Anne-Isabelle Daulon, CEO and Co-Founder of 11Arches, said: “Becoming an Archer is like joining an extended family and becoming part of a vibrant community. Many Archers make lifelong friendships, learn new skills, and discover that they can achieve great things.
“They are the heart and soul of 11Arches and Kynren. Quite simply, without them, we wouldn’t have our shows. Archers are involved in every aspect of the production."
Since its creation in 2016, the show has welcomed more than 250,000 visitors, won rave reviews, been judged among the Top Five UK Performances by Trip Advisor and received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
Those that join 11Arches for a volunteer season in 2023 will be first to be notified about new paid roles from September, as the site prepares for the reopening of 11Arches Park in 2024 as a seasonal visitor attraction.
* Anyone interested in finding out more and becoming part of the UK’s biggest live show is invited to attend the Open Call on Thursday, January 26 from 6.30pm to 8pm at Flatts Farm, Bishop Auckland DL14 7SF.
