Two people were taken to hospital following a crash in Wallsend this morning.
The two-vehicle collision occurred just before 7:15am today (Friday, January 20).
Emergency services rushed to the scene and two ambulances attended.
A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: “Shortly before 7.15am today (Friday), we received a report of two vehicle collision on the junction of Station Road and High Street, Wallsend.
“Two people were taken to hospital to be checked over as a precaution.”
A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 7.14 to a two vehicle road traffic collision at the junction of Station Road and High Street, Wallsend.
“We dispatched two double crewed ambulances and a specialist paramedic.
“Two patients were taken to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital.”
A Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We can confirm that crews were sent to a two vehicle road traffic collision earlier this morning at Station Road in Wallsend, North Tyneside. The emergency call was received by our Fire Control team at 7.37am and the first appliance was in attendance within 5-minutes.
“The firefighters at the scene were from Byker and Wallsend Community Fire Stations. They had to remove the passenger door of one of the vehicles due to a victim being reported trapped. The individual was left in the hands of the paramedics.
“Our crews left the scene at 8.11am.”
