A man whose experience of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder has led to a monthly comedy night held at one of Darlington’s most prestigious venues.
The Majestic Theatre on Bondgate will be hosting Jord Lozman’s Lairy Laughs Comedy featuring the best established and upcoming comics in the area.
Jord Lozman started doing stand-up comedy after having served in Afghanistan and two years ago he was seriously contemplating suicide.
After gaining popularity on the pubs-and-clubs-circuit, Jord wanted to take his idea of using comedy as a way of dealing with mental health issues, including depression, to the next level and raise awareness of men’s mental health.

Jord said: “I know what it’s like when you think there isn’t a way out so if I can help at least one person see a way out, then it’s worth it.
“People, especially men, need to know that help is available, whatever the exact issue is, help is there.
“Comedy has really helped me personally, and I think it can help everyone. We do need to laugh at life sometimes because it’s hard.”
Jord, originally from Redcar, also has a podcast where he chats with guests about all things mental health and the ways we cope with life’s challenges. Even Steel Cracks is available on Spotify.

Having made a name for himself at comedy nights at The Cross Keys in Gainford and Dr.Inks on Coniscliffe Road in Darlington, Jord is quickly becoming Darlington’s resident funny man.
Hayley Warters, business director at The Majestic Theatre, said: “We have been hoping to hold a comedy club for some time now and luckily Jord got in touch with us. Jordan is clearly passionate about the comedy industry.
“He has made it clear to us that he loves to entertain, make people laugh and to allow people to have a good time. He is such a passionate person about mental health and is a strong believer that laughter really is the best medicine!
“Our customers come first to us and they also do to Jordan. Therefore we love to support Jordans hilarious comedy club at our venue. We share the same believes in supporting each other and that’s why this works well. A great affordable night for a laugh with friends and a good drink!”
The first monthly comedy night this year at The Majestic Theatre will be held on Wednesday, February 8 at 7:30pm.
