It was panic at the disco for partygoers who were evacuated from a busy nightclub last night.
Revellers at Flares in Middlesbrough were forced to evacuate the dancefloor mid-session after a suspected gas leak at the popular venue.
Fire crews were called shortly before 12.50am on Thursday (January 19) and two fire engines attended the scene of the leak in the building’s basement.

A Cleveland Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “We were called at 00.48am on 19/01/23 to a suspected gas leak in the basement of a property on Albert Road, Middlesbrough.
“Upon arrival the gas was isolated at the main supply and we left it in the hands of the manager.”
Eyewitnesses reported seeing crowds gathered on the streets outside waiting eagerly to be let back onto the dancefloor.

Firefighters left the scene a short time later just after 1.05am. Cleveland Police did not attend the incident.
The venue on Albert Road has capacity for more than 500 partyers although it is not known how many were inside at the time.
