A thief distracted an elderly woman and gained entry to her home before stealing sentimental jewellery.
It happened between 1pm and 1.30pm this afternoon (Wednesday, January 11) on Chingford Avenue in Berwick Hills, Middlesbrough.
A man attended the address and gained access to the property through distraction techniques.
Jewellery of sentimental value, including rings, was stolen afterwards.
The man has been described by police as a white male and was wearing a dark duffle jacket.

Police are now appealing to witnesses as well as CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: “Anyone with information regarding the male suspect or any witnesses who may have further information, can contact Detective Sergeant Lorna Atkinson from Middlesbrough CID on 101, quoting incident number 006293.”
