A mother accused allowing the death of her two-year-old daughter has been remanded into custody ahead of a court appearance alongside the man accused of murdering the toddler.
Dana Carr, 24, formerly of Shotton Colliery, appeared before Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday charged with allowing the death of a child and a second charge of child cruelty.
Two-year-old Maya Louise Chappell died in hospital in September, two days after being found in a critical condition at an address in Shotton Colliery.
Ms Carr will now appear at Teesside Crown Court on Friday, as will Michael Daymond, 26, also formerly of Shotton Colliery, who was charged with murder in October of last year.
