An iconic North East hotel is set to reopen next month after undergoing a major redevelopment last year.
The Auckland Project has announced The Park Head Hotel, in New Coundon, Bishop Auckland, is now taking bookings for its reopening date on Wednesday, February 1 after completing major renovations.
The charity purchased the hotel and restaurant in 2021, before giving the venue a major refit last year.
Andrew Hogg, general manager of The Park Head Hotel, said staff are excited to welcome guests in the build-up to the opening date.

In terms of dining experience, the hotel said its menus will use local produce sourced Walled Garden of nearby Auckland Castle and dining bookings will be open soon.
Sarah Fortin Townsend, the design consultant who has overseen the refurbishment from the beginning, said: “While we want to provide visitors with quality accommodation, beautifully wholesome food and a warm welcome, making sure the Park Head continues to be an important place for local residents of Bishop Auckland has remained paramount throughout the project.
“It will be wonderful to see the Park Head come to life again in the new year and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to explore and enjoy everything it has to offer.”
