A three-vehicle crash this morning left a 70-year-old man in hospital after the air ambulance was called.
The incident happened at around 11.47am on Mitchell Avenue.
The road was soon closed for some time as emergency services were on the scene.
Reports confirmed that an air ambulance had landed nearby.
Police later confirmed that a 70-year-old man had been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a three-vehicle crash.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: “We were called at 10.46am this morning to a three-vehicle collision involving a Ford Focus, a Suzuki Swift and an MG on Mitchell Avenue in Thornaby.
"A 70-year-old man was taken to James Cook University Hospital in a serious condition."
