A person was rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a crash in Eston last night.

The collision happened in High Street yesterday (Monday, January 2) shortly before 10pm.

Police are appealing for information or dash cam footage after a pedestrian sustained serious injuries in the collision.

The 54-year-old man was walking westbound on the High Street, near the Miners Arms Pub, when he was in collision with a Nissan X Trail which was being driven in a westbound direction.

The man sustained serious head injuries and was taken by ambulance to James Cook University Hospital where he remains receiving treatment.

Officers are appealing for any direct witnesses to the collision or drivers who were at the location and who may have dash cam footage to get in touch.

In particular, the police would urge the driver of a small white car (possibly a Fiat Punto or similar) to contact the police as they may have useful information or footage to assist ongoing enquiries.

Any other witnesses are asked to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number quoting ref SE23001102.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We were called to reports of a road traffic collision in High Street, Eston, at 9.47pm last night.

“We dispatched two ambulance crews, a specialist paramedic and a clinical team leader, and transported one patient to James Cook Hospital for further treatment.”
