A nightspot in the North East has introduced a search policy using metal detectors to stop people bringing weapons onto the premises.
Ché Stockton has warned customers door staff will be carrying out checks before they are allowed in.
In post on social media the owners said it was response to recent tragic events over the Christmas period in bars and nightclubs.

A statement said: “As a team we have taken this very seriously and we want to let you know we do not tolerate customers carrying weapons of any kind.
“Because of this we have taken the decision to operate a search policy."

“From now on when entering our premises we ask that all our customers are prepared to be searched by our door staff.
“Please do not be offended by this as we are doing this to keep you safe and customer safety will always be our main priority.
“YOU are welcome, WEAPONS are not.
“As always please drink responsibly, stay safe and look after each other.”
