A North East veteran has received an BEM in the New Year's Honours for her work supporting veterans and young people.
Victoria Wales, from Gateshead, will receive the accolade for her services helping children, as well as her role as regional operations manager for Walking With the Wounded, it was announced on Friday.
As part of the Invictus team, Ms Wales helps disadvantaged and disabled young people reach their potential through the Duke of Edinburgh programme.
Meanwhile, the army veteran of 15 years said she was honoured and grateful to receive the award for her contributions.

Ms Wales said: "My passion is helping wounded, injured and sick veterans to reach their potential and I hope my story through my participation in the Invictus Games inspired injured veterans that their story isn’t over yet.
"My work was not only to inspire children and young adults onto the DofE, but to inspire disadvantaged children and young disabled children to reach their potential.
"I’m humbled that I’ve been recognised and very grateful."

Through her participation in the Invictus Games, where she won three medals, she hopes to have inspired injured veterans.
Additionally, she has represented her country three times, including at the Wounded Warrior Games and the Invictus Games.
As part of her fundraising efforts, Ms Wales has raised money for numerous charities to help provide clothing and equipment for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme.

She has also raised over £96,000 for charity by trekking the Great Wall for various charities.
Adding to this achievement, Ms Wales had previously trained Prince Harry during while at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
Furthermore, she has carried out voluntary work with Sunderland Football Club.
