A person was taken to hospital this morning after falling unwell on a bus travelling on the A1.
The incident happened at around 11.06am this morning and resulted in a lane being closed on the A1(M).
Traffic was queuing on the major road northbound from junction 62 A690 to Junction 63 A167 due to the medical emergency.
Lanes were soon reopened, however, and traffic soon returned to normal.

North East Ambulance Service later confirmed that one person had been taken to hospital.
A spokesperson said: “We were called at 11:06 to a person unwell on a bus travelling on the A1.
“We dispatched a double crewed ambulance and took the patient to University Hospital of North Durham”
