Two men grabbed a woman and tried to take her handbag while she was walking her dog on Boxing Day.
The incident happened at 9.50pm on Monday, December 26 near All Saints School in Ingleby Barwick, Thornaby.
A woman was walking her Rottweiler on the footpath at the rear of All Saints School when two men wearing dark clothes grabbed her and attempted to take her handbag.
The woman’s dog then frightened the men away and they fled empty handed.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: “Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting reference SE22231858”
