A main road through County Durham was closed by police for several hours overnight on Tuesday (December 27).
The A689 between the viaduct at Bishop Auckland and the Toronto Lodge roundabout was closed from around 3am until shortly before 8am while emergency services were at the scene.
The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) has now confirmed a vehicle and pedestrian were involved in the incident.
