A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said at the time: “The A690 is now being closed in both directions between the entrance to Ramside Hall and Robin Lane. Westbound traffic will be diverted down Robin Lane and Eastbound traffic through Belmont. Ramside Hall itself its still accessible**
"Officers are currently dealing with a 2 vehicle RTC on the A690 Northbound carriageway at the turning for West Rainton. Traffic is slow moving in this direction and officers are likely to be on scene for some time. Motorists are advised to seek an alternative route."
