A Darlington restaurant has teamed up with a local primary school to spread some Christmas cheer this week.
Babul’s in Darlington joined forces with Corporation Road Primary School to create Christmas cards for people who may not be having as merry a time as they would like.
The popular Indian restaurant is open on Christmas Day for anyone who feels they need some food or just a warm place to go to for a few hours, and it’s open to anyone and everyone.
As part of this, pupils from Corporation Road have made Christmas cards wishing those less fortunate than themselves a happy festive period.

The children worked tirelessly to create lovely cards for people to open at Babul’s on Christmas Day.
Miss Lauren Pyrah from Corporation Road said: “The children loved it and as some of our children don’t celebrate Christmas with their families, it was great for them to get into the spirit of things.
“We explained to the children that for a lot of people Christmas is a very hard time of year and not everyone has enough money for a home or new clothes and then they (the children) really wanted to do something nice for people less fortunate.”
The Year Three and Four pupils created some cards with messages that remind us what Christmas is really all about.

Zak Ahmed, owner of Babul’s said: “We put out an appeal for some Christmas Card donations for our Christmas Day event. We wanted to hand out some cards along with the supplies to those in need.
“Our friends at Corporation Road School were more than happy to oblige. Last week in school, 60 children took part in making Christmas cards with messages of goodwill, today they visited Babul’s to drop them off and have a look around.
“It’s great to have young people involved in community efforts, we loved having our friends from Corporation Road School over to show them around. I have young children and it’s important to explain current issues to help them understand and learn about helping others’
“The cards look great, and I’m sure whoever is the recipient of these cards will be filled with joy and smiles.”
