There are currently “major” delays across the Newcastle Metro service this morning after freezing temperatures have caused trains to fail.
Tyne and Wear Metro have reported the delays as system-wide with delays being up to 25 minutes.
Initially the service was reporting two train failures and two trains leaving the depot late.

However, as the morning has progressed this has increased to four train failures at the depot.
A spokesperson for Tyne and Wear Metro said: “We have delays of up to 25 minutes system wide. This is due to train failures caused by the freezing temperatures.
“We also have 3 trains cancelled due to fleet availability. Sorry for the inconvenience this will cause this morning.”
