After a yellow weather warning was issued yesterday, snow and ice have now hit some parts of the North East with more wintry conditions expected.
Snow and ice has been spotted in various areas of the North East this morning, as drivers prepare for their morning commute.
In the early hours this morning, snow could be seen covering roads at Blue Bank near Whitby.
This comes after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning yesterday for ice and potentially snow.

Meanwhile, North East areas are set to see temperatures as low as -5 this week, with many northern parts seeing highs of 0 degrees throughout the day.
The Met Office has also warned of “wintry showers”, as well as a “widespread frost.”
This morning, Darlington, Newcastle, Stockton, Richmond and many other areas across the North East experienced sub-zero temperatures.
The Met Office has warned drivers in the region to be careful this morning, with roads expected to be icy.
A cold weather warning level 3 is still in place for the whole of the North East.
Meanwhile, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has urged caution while driving and advised drivers to avoid high-rural roads.

According to the Met Office, some disruption is likely due to icy surfaces, which could cause some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces, and probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.
Warnings will remain in place until this afternoon, but the cold weather will not begin to shift until early next week.
Age UK has advised maintaining a supply of food and medicine to reduce the number of outdoor trips and torches with spare batteries in case of a power cut.
