Costa is set to close the doors of one of its popular branches in the North East for good after the coffee brand announced that it would need to permanently shut the venue.
Announcing the news on Tuesday (December 6) the high street business revealed that its Norton High Street branch, which is owned and operated by one of the franchises partners, will close on Sunday (December 11) - disappointing regulars of the branch.
The store has been open since 2015 - but the nearest stores to Norton High Street will now be on Stockton High Street and the University Hospital of North Tees, which are around ten minutes drive away.

Costa fans have already voiced their upset at the news, with one person saying the store "always made the best Costa we've been to" and that the staff were "very friendly and helpful."
A spokesperson for the chain said it is working with staff to offer transfer opportunities to other locations.
Despite this, Costa has been announcing several new outlets across the North East, which has seen a new branch open on Teesside Park.
The drive-thru branch has been constructed within Morrisons car park, and is now the third Costa at the retail park.
It also opened another drive-thru store on Portrack Lane last year, just yards away from rival Starbucks.
Announcing the news, a Costa Coffee spokesperson said: “We can confirm that the Costa Coffee store located at 6-8 High Street, Norton will permanently close on Sunday, December 11, 2022.
"This store is owned and operated by one of our franchise partners and we are currently working with team members on transfer opportunities to separate Costa Coffee stores in the local area. We apologise for the inconvenience this store closure will cause.”
