A drink driver has been arrested after careening off the road and crashing into a nearby garage last weekend.
A 31-year-old man crashed through a garage on the A688 in Spennymoor, while driving under the influence in the early hours of Sunday (December 4) morning.
Meanwhile, the man was arrested by Durham Police on suspicion of drink driving and careless driving.
Images from the scene showed a great deal of damage to both the car and garage, with wreckage strewn across the Mercedes and surrounding area.

The man was interviewed by officers and released under investigation while further inquiries are carried out.
Adding to this, another driver was also arrested by Durham Police on suspicion of drink driving in Seaham.
The 23-year-old was arrested after missing the A19 junction, and crashing his Mercedes into nearby barriers this weekend.
Sergeant Chris Milburn, of Durham Police's Roads & Armed Policing Unit, said: “Both men are lucky to have not been seriously injured or worse following these collisions and thankfully no innocent members of the public were hurt as a result of their decision to get behind the wheel while under the influence."

Meanwhile, the driver had attempted to escape the scene on foot, but was later caught after Durham Police with help from their force drone.
The man was taken to hospital for minor injuries, before being interviewed by police.
The crash saw the man's car unsurprisingly written off.
Thankfully, Durham Police have confirmed no one else was injured in the incident.
“Our message is simple - if you’ve had a drink, leave your car at home" added Sergeant Milburn.
