Primark officials have expressed their delight after planning permission for a new store in the region was approved.
The plans will see a new store opened in our region at Teesside Park and will create 140 new jobs.
The new Primark store on Teesside will be the latest addition to retail park's offering after The Works opened its doors there last month. Canadian fast-food chain Tim Hortons also opened a restaurant at the site earlier this year.
And plans are also in place for a Victoria's Secret branch to open a 'store within a store' within the Next branch.
It comes after the retailer launched a trial of a new click and collect service at 25 stores across the country earlier this month.
The trial marks the first time Primark has offered customers the option to buy online and collect in stores having previously stayed out of the online shopping scene.
But the company has held back on home deliveries, instead focussing on bringing people into its stores.
Kari Rodgers, Primark UK Retail Director, said: “We’re delighted to have received planning permission for a new Primark store in Teesside Park in Stockton-on-Tees, cementing our plans for the area.
“The new store is part of our plans to invest £140 million into UK retail over the next two years and will create 140 new jobs. Spanning 37,000 sq ft of retail space, we’re delighted to offer Teesside Park customers our great value clothing, beauty, homewares and much more.”
Catherine Furlong, centre director at Teesside Park, added: “We are delighted that planning permission has been granted for the required changes to be made to one of our units, and we can officially confirm that Primark will be opening at Teesside Park.
“We’ve already heard from our visitors about just how excited they are for its arrival, and I have no doubt it will be incredibly popular.”
