A County Durham school has confirmed that there have been ‘several probable’ cases of Strep A on its premises.
Wolsingham School, in Bishop Auckland, confirmed the cases in a statement provided to The Northern Echo.
In a statement from Mr Mitchinson, they have informed parents of children at the school.
The statement read: “The School is aware of several reported probable cases of Scarlet Fever in its community.
“The school and trust have informed parents of the reported cases and are following the guidance of health protection teams to effectively managing the situation.”
In an email sent to parents Wolsingham School said: “Following correspondence from school earlier in the week regarding Scarlet fever, if you believe your child is displaying any symptoms please seek confirmation from your GP.

“The school is liaising with the health protection teams to effectively manage the situation.
“Further correspondence will follow with measures the school will be taking.”
Nationally, a primary school pupil has died and a second is in hospital after a deadly outbreak of the virus.
The latest death in west London has sparked calls for an investigation into the bacteria outbreak although health officials consider the outbreak controlled and unrelated to earlier incidents, reports the Daily Mail.
Last week, the UK Health Security Agency South East’s health protection consultant Dr Claire Winslade confirmed the death of a year 1 pupil in Surrey.
She said: “We are extremely saddened to hear about the death of a pupil at Ashford Church of England School, and our thoughts are with their family, friends and the school community.
“As a precautionary measure, we have recommended antibiotics to pupils and staff in the same year groups as the individuals affected. We have provided advice to the school to help prevent further cases and will continue to monitor the situation.”
