A North Yorkshire seaside town has beaten the likes of London and Glasgow to be named one of the UK’s best places to visit.
Scarborough landed at number five as one of the 15 best places to visit in the North East by TimeOut.
The seaside town beat strong competition from the likes of Glasgow, London and Edinburgh.
The popular news site argues that the town became the first seaside resort and is now “thriving again.”
In 2023 the town is set to see its famous Scarbrough Fair being revived.
Meanwhile, it is also becoming a popular destination for craft beers and micropubs like The Stumble Inn, Quayside Bar, The frigate and Craft Bar.

TimeOut even pulled together a “perfect day” spent at the much-loved regional location.
It reads: “Order a brew from Yay Coffee’s little truck parked high on the Esplanade with amazing views over South Bay.
“Then enjoy a walk through the Victorian splendour of South Cliff Gardens, recently restored to their former glory.
“Browse the vintage stores of the Old Town, including the eclectic Yorkshire interiors from Woolley Edge in the refurbished Market Hall, before a hearty vegan lunch at Love Brew Café.
“Spend the afternoon at the Alpamare Wellness Spa, with its floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the North Sea.
“Finish the day with cocktails at Geo before an experimental British-Asian dinner at the Haus of S&M.”
Glasgow came sixth in the list, while London came eighth and Edinburgh landed nineth on the list.
